A Case of the Mondays!

While I should beat myself for saying that phrase today has been one of those days. Work seems to have a way of building up and hitting me at one time. I can handle anything the store throws at me but I would like it if just every once in a while the cosmos lines up allowing everything that I work to complete actually goes as planned. If it's not the Vendors not being able to supply me with the product I so need it's the contractors telling me to hold off for a while until they are ready for the product. You add those things to the fact that April's weather sucked and my store don't look so good for this month's numbers. Oh well I'll be back in tomorrow to attempt it all again and if I can predict the future my guess is, all the delays of April will be Emergencies of May. Wahoo for salary pay...

Peace Out!

Another rough week

As it is in any work environment when you have less people in a given day the workload seems to triple. This is the case of this week. An employee's wife took a nasty spill at home and my employee was gone for two doing the doctor visit and caretaker thing. While I will NEVER ask anyone to choose work over family the affects of his absence were truly felt. It adds up to 2 10+ hour work days and the same amount of missed lunches. Since I am not a breakfast person this means no food in the belly for close to 24 hours. The wife seems to be able to fend slightly for herself at home now and my guy is back so I'm thinkin today is gonna be a short day for me and theres a beautiful world of WOW waiting for me for when I get home. Ah how much more fun that game is being over level 40.

Peace Out!

p.s. the employee I speak of is actually a close friend I've known for over ten years but it doesn't have the same ring when I say my buddy at work...

A tweaked point of View

The copied post here is from Myspace. Read the bottom for my view.

400 years or slavery, a few hundred more of inequality, degridation, and second class citizenship required the african-american population to band together for safety and strength to make any advancement against a white majority that actively embraced lynching as an exceptable way to deal with "problem niggers"

Countless tribes of native americans were mercelessly slaughtered for no other reason than land greed in the "name of god" by our white american ancestors.

The west coast had already been populated, built up and owned by Mexico, when we sent in US troops to kill them all and claim the land as our "divine right"

There are millions of lives lost and thousands of horrific acts that have been commited by American citizen who so completely sure that they were right and everyone else was wrong.

There are good reasons that we have to deal with the realities of racism now. We did not create racism, but we did help hone it to perfection. There will be years of ramifications for future generations to deal with. But, this email that you are spreading around does not help promote brotherhood. It re-draws boundary lines and help stir up hatred. Is that your goal?

We can all have pride and be comfortable in our own skin when we start to learn to be color blind and not continue to divide, exclude, and point blame at one another for a problem that we all share and we are all responsible for fixing.

You call me, "redneck" ,"hillbilly", "slacker" , "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey", "Gringo" and you think it's OK.

...But when I call you porch monkey, coon, jiggaboo, Kike, sand nigger, rag head ,Towelhead, WOP, Camel Jockey, Gook, slant eyes or Chink you call me a racist.

-You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

-You have the United Negro College Fund.

-You have Martin Luther King Day.

-You have Black History Month.

-You have Cesar Chavez Day.

-You have Yom Hashoah

-You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi

-You have the NAACP.

-You have BET.

-If we had WET(white entertainment television) ...we'd be racist.

-If we had a White Pride Day... you would call us racist.

-If we had white history month... we'd be racist.

-If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives... we'd be racist.

-If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...you know we'd be racist.

-In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights...you would call us racist.

-Did you know that some high school students decided to make a club for only the white students because the other ethnicities had them... they all got sent to court for being racist but the african-american, Latino, and Asia clubs were not even questioned.

-You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

I am white.

I am proud.
But, you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists?

Now watch, I'll be a racist for posting this

So what? no one will re post this for fear of being called racist

if you think its true re-post it saying "I'm not racist but its true"

Ok so wow someone was either personally attacked or saw something they felt compelled enough to write this about. I only read this because one of my friends posted it. So WTF over. I agree that there is an oddity with the fact that there a few "Ethnic" organizations designed for the advancements of those ethnic groups but I don't have a single issue with any of them. I think that this original posters question to themselves would be "WHY". Why does the NAACP exist why does equal opportunity exist. Why would there need to be a "white entertainment channel"? I think what people forget about is that if it were not for those organizations we would not be anywhere near the level of divirsification as we are now. Remember that 60 years ago there was something called the Holocaust, there are still people alive that lived thru that and will remind people like this that not everyone will just lay their guns down and go hug their supposed enemy. The holocaust and the civil rights movement happened for a reason, some people hate other people. The good thing is that their have been enough strong people to make a difference. We are more acceptable in todays age than ever before there is more equality than ever before. But don't get headstrong because we are still nowhere near where we need to be. The world is still filled with hatred and unacceptance. I would love to be alive when the need for some of those organizations is no longer needed because we as a society accept one another for who they are not what they look like or what we perceive people to represent. My question to everyone is are you making the right step are you looking past the skin and into the person? What are you teaching your kids? The kids are the next generation of difference makers on what side will they make a difference?

Peace Out!

Rough Week!

Work is putting my patience and my demeanor to the test. I screwed up big with a vendor and it caused a major ripple effect. I am currently in the damage control stages of clean up.

The big 1K

After my self proclaimed momentus achievement of getting to 100 post the next biggest accomplishment has been hit. As of today (according to sitemeter) my site has hit its 1000 view. On the grand scale of things that's actually a freakin low number. Considering there are tons of sites that achieve that hit that number every hour. Granted I put no effort into drawing attention to my site thru various internet means. So while I blask in the glory of my achievement I bid you all a farewell and I hope all have had a great Easter and have a even better week.

Peace Out!

p.s. I didn't have sitemeter running on this site until Jan. 16th of 2006 and I started this site in Nov. of 2005....

The other end of the pendulum

After my assasination with my 7 3 off last week the official Hawkins Poker tourney was tonight. Let's just say that the Remeika clan did not do so well and we even owe extra money I mooched off of John. Oh well when the best hand you get in 2 hours is a pair of Jacks winning becomes slightly more difficult. It's all good and we'll be back next month. As an added bonus Adam showed up and played. Too bad he was the first one out. Somebody had to be first. Well until next time may your flops be pretty and you cards not get crushed like a fresh poo in a monkeys hand...

WTF?

Geek Fun

Last night was my first adventure into movie night with some new found friends via 606. I was the first one to show up for the night which seemed odd since I thought that since basically everyone that was coming was involved with computers and would typically have a type A personality and be there waaaay before 7. Being early gave me time to talk with Adam (or is it Alex????) and Myya so that I didn't feel weird just showing up to something I've never been too before. They are totally cool and Adam is freakin funny. Good crowd was there and much fun was had (I never need to see pictures of Justin again in my life though). I was a little out of touch when they talked about some router chaos happening at their work and something about playstations 1, 2, 3, and 6 (did I miss something) being betamaxed or something. Oh well I never was that good at that stuff. Overall it was exaclty what I had imagined in my mind and there is a certain comfort that comes with my geekeness and stupidity being totally accepted by all that was there no questions asked. Good times noodle Salad.

Thanks Adam and Myya!

I hope that I can trun out a similar experience in a couple weeks when I host it at my house. Stay tuned for the EVITE!

Peace Out!

poker table

it has hit me that it would be fun to construct my own table. Given the cost savings and the fact that it would be custom to what I think would look nice it seems like a no brainer. Check this place out!

Peace Out!

Open Mouth insert foot

Or in this case feet.

In my blogging mind I generally just have a thought and blog about it. While sometimes these are random thoughts every once in a while I pick out what I feel like talking about. This is the case for my baby talk post a few days ago. It seems I have struck a nerve with the wifey about my protral of my "having a baby" opinion. Let me get a couple things out there to clear the air.

1. I do want to have a baby and I just want the baby to be healthy I am not partial to male or female (I want a boy).

2. The fact that there are many around us that are currently prego or are contemplating pregnancy really does not make my life any harder. Ashley has been more than understanding about my reluctancy to concieve.

3. I am (in all honesty) honored by the fact that Ashley was able to assemble our friends baby shower. In a conversation I had with Ashley months ago I stated to her that Lisa has many choices of people around her that she could ask to do this. It is a unique experience, as a woman can only have one first baby shower. The magnitude of how special that event is not lost on me. Truth be known I never once said anything to her about not going with any idea she had no matter the cost or involvement I let her do her thing because I wanted her to have fun with it and put together a great experience for a VERY deserving person.

Peace Out!

Sic just SIC!

Played poker at the Hawkins and won a $100 off of 7 3 offsuit. Better yet it was the fact that I won because I had 7 high. The other player had 6 2 offsuit and my 7 played. Picture to follow since it was too great to pass-up the photo op.

Peace Out!!
